Why did the League of Nations fail to keep the peace in the 1930s?

UNSUCCESSFUL!
The more the League failed in solving disputes, the less people trusted it. In the end, everybody just ignored it.

The absence of the Great Powers weakened the League, as the USA isolated itself from the League and Germany and Russia weren't allowed to join at the start.

In the 20's the League had to solve disputes between countries with little power, but in the 30's the League had to face Italy and Japan.
